Young Women Leaders
The Young Women Leaders educational scholarship program offers monthly workshops designed to help future female leaders develop networking, leadership, and public speaking skills.
In addition to mentor connections, students receive guidance on creating budgets, time management, networking, etiquette, interview preparation, and so much more.

Young Women Leaders is an engaging educational outreach program that has served high school seniors throughout the Coachella Valley since 2001.
Students who participate in the program receive training, informational resources, and access to women leaders in the community, who serve as mentors.
The program’s goal is to guide young women into roles of leadership and success, as they prepare for college, business, and life.
Seniors who successfully complete the educational programming and project requirements are eligible to apply for either a need-based or merit scholarship.

THERESA A. MIKE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION $10,000 (FOUR $2,500 SCHOLARSHIPS)
The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit organization that awards individual scholarships to full-time, enrolled tribal members of any tribe across the United States, and/or full-time, non-native students from the Coachella Valley and the Morongo Basin. It was established in honor of Theresa Mike’s legacy and dreams and honors her commitment to developing a sense of cultural richness, history and a future for the people of her tribe. Since it was created, the Foundation has awarded $1,00,000 to help deserving scholars fund their educational dreams.
THE BERGER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP $5,000 (TWO $2,500 SCHOLARSHIPS)
The Berger Foundation is proud to present a scholarship to a young woman with a heart for philanthropy. This scholarship aims to recognize and support the educational pursuits of young women who demonstrate a strong commitment to making a positive impact in their communities through philanthropic endeavors. It is awarded to a young woman who has shown exceptional dedication to volunteer work, fundraising efforts, or other charitable activities while maintaining excellent academic achievements, leadership skills, and a demonstrated passion for philanthropy.
SBEMP SCHOLARSHIP $2,500
SBEMP is a prominent full-service law firm based in Palm Springs, extending its legal expertise through offices in Indian Wells, Orange, and San Diego Counties. Esteemed for its community roots and a team comprising notably of female lawyers, the firm excels in various legal sectors and proudly supports initiatives like the Women Who Rule Awards, underscoring its commitment to the professional development of women in the Coachella Valley.
DESERT CARE NETWORK SCHOLARSHIP $2,500
Desert Care Network hospitals are proud to provide economic opportunities for women in the Coachella Valley. Its two CEOs – Michele Finney and Karen Faulis – lead a workforce that is more than 70 percent female. And, while it serves the needs of the entire community, it offers special services for women. From a hospital-based clinic for high-risk pregnancy to the Comprehensive Breast Centers in Palm Springs and La Quinta, it provides some of the latest treatments and technologies in a compassionate setting, as a Community Built on Care.
DESERT OASIS HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIP $2,500
Whether as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, or in any variety of other clinical or administrative positions, women have been leaders at Desert Oasis Healthcare since it was formed in 1981, as one of the first medical groups in the desert communities of Southern California. The hope is that this scholarship will inspire young women to consider careers in healthcare and, perhaps, return to the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities to practice their chosen profession.
CV STRATEGIES SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN IN JOURNALISM $2,500
Returning to her roots in journalism, Erin Kaiman, founder, and president of CV Strategies, has created a scholarship for a young woman studying Journalism or Communications in college. This specialized scholarship further provides a six-month paid internship at CV Strategies, a comprehensive communications firm based in Palm Desert. The internship affords the scholarship recipient an opportunity for hands-on experience working with a team of strategists, writers and designers developing content and materials for myriad clients in the public and private sectors. Previous CV Strategies interns have successfully secured high-paying jobs in their respective fields.
GUADALUPE CANTU SCHOLARSHIP $1,500
The Guadalupe Cantu Scholarship is sponsored by Pure Barre Palm Desert to establish a scholarship named in the honor of the donor’s mother and her own single parent family after losing her father at a young age.
The Heart of Hospitals Scholarship $1,500
This is an annual award established by Shay Moraga, Founder of Shay's Warriors Life After Cancer to honor her grandmother, a dedicated nurse of nearly 45 years and close mentor and friend Alison Mayer Sachs an Oncology social worker of 40+ years. This scholarship recognizes the unwavering spirit and commitment of nurses and social workers who serve as the backbone of oncology wards, providing critical care and support to those battling cancer. It reflects a heartfelt tribute to the warriors who fight cancer on the front lines every day.
GEORGE P. GREENWOOD MEMORIAL MILITARY SCHOLARSHIP $1,000
This annual scholarship was established to support the transition between enlistment and active duty for a young woman leader. It was established by Bernadette M. Greenwood PhD(c) in honor of her father, a casualty of Veteran suicide who took his life when she was four years old. As a U.S. Army Veteran, she recognizes the need for a financial bridge between signing and service.
