Young Women Leaders Program

Young Women Leaders is an innovative outreach program that provides leadership training and professional mentoring for female high school students at schools throughout the Coachella Valley.

The goal of the YWL program is to guide local young women into roles of leadership and success, as they prepare for college, business and life. Seniors who successfully complete the educational, community outreach, and professional mentoring at their mentor’s worksite are eligible for either a need-based or merit scholarship. Please see here for more information about the Scholarship Program.

The YWL educational program consists of four mandatory educational sessions and are typically held on Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Your Experience Is Invaluable! Women Leaders Forum (WLF) is proud to continue the Career Mentoring Program for Young Women Leaders.

The Women Leaders Forum has a long and successful history of supporting local students through a combination of workshops, mentoring and scholarships. This year, we are making some exciting changes to our Young Women Leaders program, and we're asking you to share your knowledge with them.

What's New This Year?

To ensure that our students are introduced to as many professions as possible, we are moving from one-on-one mentoring and towards career panels, interviews and hands-on experience. We're looking for Career Ambassadors to pass along their wisdom.

What Do I Need to Do?

Just give the students the benefit of your professional experience. You can:

Successful completion of the educational workshops and the mentoring program not only prepares students for the future; it also establishes eligibility for seniors to apply for scholarships up to $5,000. Last year we awarded over $90,0000 in scholarships in partnership with OneFuture Coachella Valley to local qualifying students. "Hello, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Amanda Cardinal. I was a 2015 Young Women Leaders scholarship recipient and I am now a sophomore at Oklahoma State University. Many of you are probably asking yourselves, "Oklahoma, what's in Oklahoma?"
