Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley Open for Enrollment for YWL Mentoring Program
Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley, (WLF), is seeking applicants to serve as both mentors and mentees as part of its Young Women Leaders program (YWL).
“The YWL program matches high school seniors with professional women in the Coachella Valley with the same interests,” commented YWL chairperson, Annette Said. “The goal of this program is to equip our future women leaders with the necessary tools to help provide direction as they consider college and careers. Last year YWL paired nearly 50 professional women mentors with mentees and this year, we are on track to pair even more.”
The mentoring program is open to female high school seniors, who upon successful completion of the program, are eligible to receive a $5,000 grant for college. Mentors and mentees must spend a minimum of 16 hours together from October 2014 through March 2015. Mentees are also required to commit to attending five of six educational workshops. All participants in the program must have signed parental consent and are responsible for their own transportation to and from activities.
Additionally, the YWL will offer free Educational Workshops for ALL female high school students starting this Fall which will cover a wide range of life skills on topics such as finances, etiquette, public speaking, job interviewing and resume skills.
Founded in 2001, the mission of Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley is to empower and develop women leaders of all ages and backgrounds in our community. More than $300,000 in college scholarship funds has been raised for the best and brightest enrolled in WLF’s Young Women Leaders Mentoring Program seeking higher education.
