Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley (WLF) is proud to announce $90,000 in college scholarship funds will be distributed to the best and brightest students enrolled in its Young Women Leaders Mentoring Program on Friday, May 20 at WLF’s annual Scholarship Luncheon. The event, which begins at 11:30 a.m. will be held at the Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Spa, 44-600 Indian Wells Lane.

The scholarship funds are thanks to a $40,000 matching grant from Pathways to Success, a division of the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, $10,000 from the Theresa Mike Foundation, $5,000 from Desert Regional Medical Center, $5,000 from B. Mayo Kato, M.D. of Aesthetic Art, plus WLF’s year-long fundraising efforts, in addition, to generous donations from philanthropists Peggy Cravens and Helene Galen.

“Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley is proud to present these life-changing scholarship funds to the best and brightest students enrolled in our Young Women Leaders Mentoring Program,” said WLF president Deborah Tryon. “Many of these young women are the first in their family to attend college and would not be able to do so without these scholarships. We thank the community and our members for their generosity and support.”

Dr. Susan Murphy, who received WLF’s Helene Galen Excellence in Education Award at the organization’s Women Who Rule luncheon, will be the keynote speaker at the scholarship presentation. Dr. Murphy is a consummate educator with more than 25 years of national and international experience consulting over 300 organizations including many Fortune 500 companies. Her extensive background combines the three worlds of corporate leadership, academia and management consulting.
